Make It Your Own
We love it when you make the venue your own! Our venue dressing guidelines should help you plan your perfect day. Please get in touch if you’d like to chat through any creative ideas you have for the venue before the big day. You’re welcome to make an appointment to pop back and do a recce anytime!
The Ceremony Tables
Included in your Venue Hire & Event Management Services, we provide two stunning glass topped, rectangular tables at the front of The Ceremony Barn.
The glass table tops are 90cm wide by 180cm long.
You’re welcome to place a pretty floral display on one or both of these tables but please be aware that the registrars do not allow lit candles on the signing table, just in case it sets fire to the marriage certificate!!
The Mill Stone Barn Tables
Included with your venue hire, we supply three lovely round top oak tables.
They sit inside the epicentre of venue, The Mill Stone Barn and they’re perfect for displaying your decorative items, card boxes or floral displays.
The glass tops are 110cm in diameter and the table tops sit 76cm off the ground.
Your Table Plan / Order of The Day Easel
Our gorgeous vintage style blackboard sits directly outside The Wedding Breakfast Barn and is a great place to position your Table Plan or Order of The Day (or both!)
The blackboard area is 90cm high and 125cm wide.
It’s really easy to stick your individual A5 sheets of card to. Alternatively, you might want to produce a poster, which will sit on the ledge just under the blackboard and rest against the top edge.
Our L O V E Letters For Hire
Add some wow factor to your big day decor with our fabulous light up L O V E Letters, available to hire for just £150.
You’ll love their retro vibe and the lovely warm tone of the bulbs which light up the wooden letters to great effect.
We can place them on the internal balcony of The Mill Stone Barn (pictured), the Ceremony Barn Balcony, The Wedding Breakfast Barn Balcony or The Dancefloor. (They’ll stay in whichever spot you’ve chosen throughout the day.)
Please let your Event Manager know if you’d like them on display for your wedding and we’ll add the hire fee to your account.
Candle Guidelines
Tealights in small glass holders or votives are fine.
Please supply the tealights that last for 8 hours so that they only have to be refreshed once, if at all.
Church style candles are also allowed, as long as they’re secure inside a hurricane lamp.
If using candelabra’s and the candles are within the flower arrangements the candles will not be lit for safety reasons. Please always supply non-drip candles for use in candelabras. If safe to do so, they can be lit if placed in a glass holder that encloses the entire candle and flame.
NO real candles can be used throughout the venue if there is any pampas grass, under any circumstances, due to risk of fire.
LED Candles or Battery Powered Fairy Lights are a great alternative to a naked flame.
Florists
We love seeing the exquisite floral artistry created for weddings. If you’re supplying flowers for a wedding at The Mill Barns you are welcome at the venue from 10am on the wedding day. We’ll be onsite to greet you and to show you where to place any floral decorations and centrepieces.
We’ve got a cool place to store any buttonholes and bridal bouquets.
Please be aware that we do not have a suitable area for you to arrange flowers onsite, we expect you to deliver finished pieces.
Floral Archways and Other Big Items
If you’re supplying a floral archway or any other large decorative items such as vintage cycles, pallets, decorative step ladders, wheelbarrows…please be aware that we will move these items into storage at the end of the night.
If you would prefer to pop back and dismantle any large items yourself, please contact us to arrange collection of the items at midnight on the night of the wedding.
Light Up Dancefloors
If you’re thinking of hiring an LED Light Up Dancefloor please use our approved suppliers Little Gem FX or Wedding Sounds. These are the only companies that are permitted to fit a temporary dancefloor at The Mill Barns.
Please be aware that the dance floor must be removed just after Midnight, get in touch for more details.

Sparklers at The Mill Barns
If you fancy a gorgeous ‘sparkler shot’ please discuss this with the Events Team at The Mill Barns at the earliest opportunity.
We allow sparklers to be lit on the tarmac at the front entrance, in the garden and on The Garden Terrace. Please do not light sparklers anywhere else at The Mill Barns, we’d hate the new wooden decking to be damaged!
You’ll need to supply the sparklers, plenty of lighters and a bucket of sand for extinguishing the sparklers.
Please don’t ever supply sparklers as a ‘favour’ on the table and you’ll need to designate a sensible (and sober!) guest to manage the sparkler shot.
Sorry but We Don’t Allow…
Chinese Lanterns, Balloon Releases and Fireworks are not allowed.
We provide all the furniture at The Mill Barns and we don’t allow other furniture to be used.
We don’t allow any venue dressing of the lower ground floor (we think it’s pretty funky as it is!)
If you’ve got an idea for something and you’re unsure of whether we’ll allow it or not, just ask us. We’ll always try to be as accommodating as possible.
Chair Sashes & Bunting Hooks
We cannot fix chair sashes in place due to the amount of time it takes on the morning of the wedding. However, we have a fantastic selection of Venue Dressers on our Handpicked Suppliers List who can supply and fit your chair sashes from 10am on the big day.
Please remember to make/order any bunting to the correct sizes, supply detailed setup instructions and deliver any bunting or fairy lights untangled and ready to hang.
