Church Wedding

With a Reception at The Mill Barns

Faye & Adam's Joyous July Wedding

We wanted to know more about Faye & Adam's stunning church wedding followed by a reception at The Mill Barns, here's what they had to say...

Crazy in Love

We met at Worcester University in 2010, we were on the same teaching course. We just got on really well straight away. One of the first times we properly talked was in an English lecture, looking at how to aid communication in KS1, and we had this silly meercat puppet. Adam started doing impressions with it, no one else found it funny at all but it had me in stitches. He could make me laugh over anything, and still does!

On August 23rd2016, we went for a trip around Worcester, reliving our Uni days. We went for a long walk around the river then before I knew it he was down on one knee! I was so excited and just said “really?!”- before obviously saying YES! I couldn’t believe it had finally happened and couldn’t stop looking at my ring. Finally all of the things we had spoke about were finally coming true!

Stunning Service at Kinlet Church

I always knew from a young age that I would get married at Kinlet Church. It’s a real family church. My Mum and all of her sisters got married there; myself, my brother and my cousins were all christened there. Plus it’s such a beautiful church, with quite a short aisle to walk down which was a BIG bonus as I was so nervous about that bit!

As I stood at the church door with my Dad, I was ready and couldn’t wait! As I turned to walk down the aisle, Adam was stood there with our beautiful dog Milo. I had NO idea that Milo was going to be there and this surprise from Adam really did make the day absolutely perfect, doing things like that are one of the reasons why I love him!

The service was beautiful, Milo “sang” throughout the whole service, as he just wanted to stand by us!

Reception at The Mill Barns

We really wanted our day to be fun. A day people would remember and would genuinely enjoy being a part of. We wanted it to involve as much family as possible, and we wanted people to walk in knowing it was our wedding just by looking at things. So naturally, Disney had to play a part in the day. We had 2 Disney signs as you entered the Mill Barns, one saying “Have a Magical Day”- this is one of our favourite thigs in Disney as everyone says it to you, and we really did want the day to be magical. We had a Castle background for our table plan and some Disney quotes in the entrance hall.

On the tables, we had a picture of us with a different Disney character from our trips to Florida, then to match  this, we hand painted terracotta pots for that character, then the favors were sweet jars with matching character material. We had “Be Our Guest” playing, it sounded amazing, and got everyone smiling and dancing as they entered the barn.

A Magical Day

Christian Fletcher Magician was amazing, our guests absolutely loved him. Even now, a few months after the wedding, people are still talking about it. One of the favourite parts to our day. The trick he did on the top table was just incredible, and we still can’t work it out! Real magic.

We really wanted a live band for the evening reception, and booked The Chaperones. They sounded amazing online so we booked them up, and again I’m so glad we did. They sang our first dance song “Say you won’t let go” and I literally danced all night- very thankful that I had flat sandals on!!

Wedding Breakfast with a Difference

We had Hoast a Roast, and it went down like an absolute treat!! People loved the surpsie element, and I don’t think anyone had been to anything quite like it. It took us a while to plan out who was going to carve on each table, but I definitely think we chose the best people as they all loved it. The looks on their faces were a picture. The fact they had Disney aprons to match each table really made it too, and some of them got so attached they even asked to take them home!

The food was amazing, and there was so much of it!

Jenkinsons catered really well for special dietary requirements, and didn’t bat an eyelid at our requests- one being myself as I’m quite fussy!

The evening food was also a big hit- The BBQ. So much food, and it was so nice!! My Grandma still keeps talking about how nice the sausages were!

Dressed to Impress

I found it difficult to choose my wedding dress! Mum and myself visited a couple of different boutiques and had no luck, then I finally went to a bridal boutique that was suggested by a friend (La Couture Bridal); on my second visit there, I finally found my dress. It was a beautiful fit and flare gown from Stella York style 6514. I didn’t get the overwhelming sense of emotion that everyone talks about, but I didn’t want to take it off so that’s when I knew it was the one. I absolutely loved the back detail; I couldn’t stop staring at it. Most importantly, I could imagine wearing it on our wedding day.

Adam wore a royal blue suit with a grey patterned waistcoat and a grey tie, while his best man and groomsmen wore matching suits, blue waistcoat and a grey tie. It was an equally hard decision for Adam to choose his suit, as we didn’t want anything to clash. However in the end everyone looked amazing!

Enjoy Every Second!

I stressed so much on the days leading up to the wedding, about things going to plan, the weather everything. But it is absolutely true what they say-on the day those little things don’t matter at all! All that matters is that everyone you care for is there and you get to get married!!

HAVE A VIDEOGRAPHER!!!! I wasn’t planning on having one, my Mum kept telling me we should, so we did and I’m so glad! Pollyanna Productions did the most amazing job. Everyone we have shown the video to has cried, and I must have watched it 5 million times already. It’s so special to watch it all back and relive our day. It’s your wedding so do and have what you want. Have no regrets- you only get this day once!

What Was Your Favourite Bit?

ALL OF IT!! I can’t stop looking back at all of our pictures and our video, I look at them most days. The day was just perfect in every way. We honestly wouldn’t change a single thing, we would do it all again in a heartbeat.

One of my favourite memories from the day was when I first saw Faye walk down the aisle. Although, I think she was more excited to see Milo than me.  She looked absolutely beautiful and her dress was stunning. I didn't stop smiling the whole day, from arriving at the church in the morning to our last dance of the night everything was perfect.

A quick mention for Ellis- My amazing brother. He coped amazingly well all day, I was so so proud to have him by my side, he loved every second, and having him there and enjoying himself made me the proudest big sister in the world.

We want to say the biggest thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone that helped make our day so special. Big BIG thank you to our parents, they helped us so much, and it honestly wouldn’t have been that perfect without all the hours I spent talking and planning it with my Mum and Dad.
