Christmas Wedding at The Mill Barns

Rachael & James

Deep red blooms, pheasant feathers, sparkly princess gowns, Love Letters, mistletoe, pine cones and more… Huge thanks to Rachael & James for sharing details of their stunning Christmas Wedding at The Mill Barns on our Featured Weddings blog. We hope you find their wedding story as inspiring at we did.

Christmas with (Jingle) Bells on!

Jay got down on one knee and proposed on Christmas Day, he stunned me with a fairytale ‘princess’ ring he’d chosen himself, it was a moment to treasure forever.

That was it! We instantly knew we wanted a Christmas Wedding and on New Year’s Eve we viewed The Mill Barns Wedding Venue. It blew us away, as soon as we saw the wooden frame, we knew that The Mill Barns was the ‘one’. It’s a breathtaking, simply beautiful building.

We knew that was where our life as husband and wife would commence. 12 months later, on 23rd December, we had our amazing Christmas Wedding at The Mill Barns and couldn’t be happier.

Magical Christmas Wedding!

I’d always wanted a Christmas wedding and could imagine the large Christmas tree in the centre of the atrium. Christmas is a magical time of year for the whole family and a time of happiness. We have always shared magical moments with our families at Christmas growing up and we wanted our wedding to be another magical Christmas memory we could cherish forever.

Our vibe was rustic but with a touch of sparkle. The pheasant feathers were a must and the tweed waistcoats and logs added an extra rustic touch. My princess dress sparkled like crazy!

Deck The Halls

We loved being able to decorate the venue, we added extra Christmas trees, we hired the light up Love Letters; added ladders, candles, fairy lights, mistletoe, pine cones wreaths and so much more. We loved adding our personal touches and making the venue reflect us.

When it came to the flowers, we knew exactly what we wanted; beautiful blooms and feathers, with deep reds to add warmth and colour. We cannot thank our florist enough as my bridal bouquet was out of this world! She totally brought my vision to life.

Christmas Wedding Dress Code

The dress I chose was nothing like I had anticipated. As we had booked a Christmas Wedding at The Mill Barns I originally thought I’d go for long sleeves, lace, traditional and instead, I ended up with my amazing princess, mermaid style gown.

My beautiful gown came from Georgina Scott Bridal.

The groom most certainly scrubbed up well, rocking his look along with his groomsmen! The suits came from Peter Posh.

I absolutely loved the colour of the bridesmaids dresses, sage green, who all looked stunning.

Entertainment Extaordinaire!

Our wedding breakfast was one to be remembered with personalised aprons, chefs hats and an amazing Host-a-Roast prepared and served beautifully by the venue’s fantastic catering partners. Everyone had a fantastic time and the food was divine. The Host-a-Roast provided lots of entertainment over thye wedding breakfast and created the perfect atmosphere in preparation for the speeches.

During the drinks reception we hired Matt from Piano and Vows, who set the tone for the wedding playing some of our favourite songs and Christmas carols, adding ambiance.
