Do we have to use your caterers?
You deserve the best on your wedding day; that’s why we insist that our exclusive catering partners – Jenkinsons, provide all your wedding catering to our exacting standards.
With over fifty years’ experience you can count on them to make your wedding breakfast a culinary delight your guests will rave about.
At every stage, from planning your menu through to the perfectly timed and elegant service of your dishes on the big day, you can trust this professional and friendly team to guide and inspire you.
Can I make my own wedding cake?
Yes. We understand that a wedding cake is something truly special and that you’ll either commission a specialist baker or try your hand at making your own.
We are happy for you to supply your own wedding cake and our catering staff will cut it into fingers and serve it at a pre-arranged point during your evening reception. Don’t forget to tell us if you’d like to save the top tier or if one layer is to be served first.
Can I supply my own Cheese Tower?
You are very welcome to supply your own cheese tower. Whether you choose to serve it as a cheese course at the end of the meal or as your evening buffet, our caterers will plate the cheese and provide all the crockery, cutlery, condiments and crackers for you at very reasonable rates.
Please arrange to supply whole cheese rounds in sealed packaging for delivery at The Mill Barns on your wedding day.
Can we try the food?
Yes. You are given the opportunity to attend one of our Wedding Experience Events where you can try a number of dishes. Always a tremendous success, these events make it so much easier for you to go away and make decisions about what you want to serve at your Wedding Breakfast.
Please visit our Food pages for further information. (Please be aware that where your Wedding Day falls within nine months of booking The Mill Barns, it may not be possible to attend a Wedding Experience Event.)
Can I offer my guests a choice?
In most cases, as the Bride & Groom you will decide what you’d like to be served at your wedding breakfast and all your guests will be served the same menu. We’ll always cater for any vegetarian guests separately of course, and any guests with specific dietary requirements.
By prior arrangement with the caterers, you can offer a choice on all three courses of your wedding breakfast if desired. If your guests highlight their choices on the wedding invitation RSVP we recommend you make a note of their individual choices on the back of their place name card. That way, if on your wedding day they’ve forgotten what they picked, our serving staff can advise them to have a quick peek on the back of their place name card!
Can I supply the Evening Buffet?
No. To ensure the very highest standards in both culinary excellence and food hygiene, The Mill Barns works exclusively with one of the most respected independent caterers in the UK.
They are competitively priced and can offer advice on how to best cater for your evening guests.
Can we supply our own drinks?
You are welcome to supply your own drinks for both your Drinks Reception and your Wedding Breakfast and we do not charge a corkage or service fee.
Please visit our No Corkage Drinks page for more information.
Can we serve cocktails at the Drinks Reception?
Choose from an amazing selection of cocktails available from The Cellar. A full list of all the competitively priced drinks available through The Cellar are available following your viewing of The Mill Barns. (Please note; it is not possible to supply your own cocktails.)
Can we serve our own drinks in the evening?
No. Service of your own drinks ceases at the end of the Wedding Breakfast meal at which point The Bar opens.
Any unopened bottles are returned to your designated area of our secure storage facility for collection the next day.
What are The Bar prices like?
Our bar prices are extremely competitive. A full price list for the bar is provided within the ‘Your Wedding Drinks’ information pack available following your viewing of The Mill Barns.
